Description

The Vulkan LH40 is a high-performance single-stage in-line regulator developed for accurate downstream pressure control in industrial gas supply systems. It is designed for installations where stable secondary pressure, compact dimensions, and flexible configuration matter more than oversized regulator stations. With a maximum inlet pressure of 40 bar and an adjustable working pressure from 0.5 to 35 bar, the LH40 covers a wide range of industrial and process gas applications.

Unlike a basic utility regulator, the LH40 offers a broader material and configuration platform. The regulator is available with a body in CW617N brass, chrome-plated brass, or stainless steel 1.4404 / AISI 316L. The diaphragm can be supplied in NBR or stainless steel 316L, which improves media compatibility and expands the regulator’s usefulness for more demanding operating environments. The standard seal material is Perbunan, and internal filter options are available in 8, 12, 20, 30, or 50 µm.

The LH40 is engineered for practical use in compact gas distribution points, production lines, process systems, and machine supply stations. It is available with G 1/2 female or NPT 1/2 female inlet and outlet connections, and can also be supplied with a pressure transducer or alternative connection configurations. The regulator is delivered without an inlet pressure gauge, while the working pressure gauge P2 can be configured in multiple ranges depending on the required outlet pressure control.

Performance is a strong commercial argument for this model. According to the datasheet, the LH40 reaches approximately 100 m³/h at 2.5 bar, 150 m³/h at 4 bar, 180 m³/h at 6 bar, 350 m³/h at 10 bar, 500 m³/h at 20 bar, and up to 600 m³/h at 35 bar on compressed air. The series catalog also lists standard gas-specific versions with outlet pressure ranges from 0.2–4 bar up to 0.2–35 bar, depending on model execution.

The regulator is suitable for a broad gas portfolio including oxygen, CO₂/argon, helium, nitrogen, hydrogen, and compressed air. In addition, the datasheet states that the regulator fulfils the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1935/2004, Regulation (EC) 2023/2006, and LFGB, which means it is approved for contact with food-suitable gases. This makes the LH40 a relevant option not only for industrial gas supply, but also for food and beverage gas applications where material conformity matters.

From an engineering standpoint, the LH40 is manufactured according to Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU, Article 4(3), sound engineering practice. It has a stated leakage rate of 1 × 10³ mbar l/s, approximate dimensions of 85 × 170 × 125 mm, and a weight of approximately 1.5 kg. The operating temperature range in the datasheet is -35 to +150 °C, which is substantially broader than a standard workshop-class regulator and strengthens its positioning for tougher environments.

The correct commercial position for the Vulkan LH40 is clear: it is a compact, configurable, high-capacity line pressure regulator for industrial, process, utility, and food-grade gas systems that require stable outlet pressure, compact installation, and material flexibility without moving into oversized regulator assemblies.
