Description

The Vulkan L 40 is a single-stage in-line pressure regulator for technical gas distribution pipelines that operate at higher outlet pressure levels. With a 100 bar inlet pressure rating and adjustable outlet pressure from 0 to 40 bar, it covers process gas lines, laser assist gas circuits and specialty distribution headers where the downstream requirement exceeds the 20 bar class. The PTFE diaphragm with stainless steel execution for oxygen service ensures material compatibility across the gas range.

The brass body, G 1/2 RH connections and ISO 5171 safety gauges are the standard construction. The leakage rate of 1 × 10⁻⁶ mbar l/s confirms helium-leak-proof assembly. At 90 Nm³/h maximum flow at 40 bar, the L 40 has sufficient capacity for standard pipeline branch circuits and tapping point feeds in the higher-pressure class.

The L 40 sits above the L 20 in the Vulkan in-line regulator range and below the high-flow LR 40 fin regulator. For installations requiring higher flow at the same 40 bar pressure level, the LR 40 is the natural step up within the same product family. For applications requiring enhanced pressure stability, the double-stage configuration is available in the LR 40 class.

The 100 bar inlet pressure rating of the L 40 means it can also be used as a direct pipeline regulator downstream of a manifold regulator or cylinder regulator output at elevated pressure, covering applications where a second pressure reduction stage in the pipeline is required before the point of use.

Food-Gas / Compliance Positioning

This regulator can be positioned for food-gas projects when ordered with the appropriate wetted materials, elastomers, cleanliness level and documentation package. Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 defines the basic requirement that materials in contact with food must not transfer substances in quantities that could endanger health or unacceptably change the composition or organoleptic properties of food. Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 adds GMP requirements for controlled manufacturing processes. In Germany, LFGB is part of the legal framework used for control of food-contact materials and articles.
