Description
The Vulkan L 20 is a single-stage in-line pressure regulator for technical gas distribution pipelines where a controlled 0–20 bar outlet pressure is required in the pipeline distribution stage. With a 40 bar inlet pressure rating and up to 70 Nm³/h flow capacity, it is suited to distribution headers, branch circuit regulators and tapping point feed circuits operating in the 20 bar pressure class.
The PTFE diaphragm and G 1/2 RH connections are the standard construction. Safety gauges are to ISO 5171. The leakage rate of 1 × 10⁻⁶ mbar l/s confirms helium-leak-proof assembly. Gas-specific versions cover oxygen, CO₂/argon, helium, nitrogen, hydrogen, compressed air and acetylene, with the acetylene version operating at reduced inlet and outlet pressure according to acetylene-specific safety requirements.
The L 20 occupies the standard 20 bar in-line regulator position in the Vulkan pipeline regulator range — above the L 10 low-pressure class and below the L 40 higher-pressure class. For installations requiring enhanced pressure stability at the 20 bar level, the double-stage L 15/2 or the high-flow LR 20 fin regulator are the natural alternatives within the same range.
The wider 0–20 bar outlet range of the L 20 compared to the L 10 makes it suitable for pipeline branches feeding equipment or instruments that operate above 10 bar, and for distribution systems where a single regulator must cover multiple downstream pressure requirements within the 0–20 bar window.
Key Advantages
- Single-stage design for reliable in-line pressure reduction at 0–20 bar.
- 70 Nm³/h flow capacity for distribution headers and branch circuit applications.
- 40 bar inlet rating for reduced-pressure pipeline and tapping point feed duties.
- PTFE diaphragm and G 1/2 RH connections as standard construction.
- Safety gauges according to ISO 5171; helium-leak-proof with 1 × 10⁻⁶ mbar l/s.
- Available for oxygen, CO₂/argon, helium, nitrogen, hydrogen, compressed air and acetylene.
- Part of the complete Vulkan in-line regulator range from 10 bar to high-pressure classes.
Food-Gas / Compliance Positioning
This regulator can be positioned for food-gas projects when ordered with the appropriate wetted materials, elastomers, cleanliness level and documentation package. Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 defines the basic requirement that materials in contact with food must not transfer substances in quantities that could endanger health or unacceptably change the composition or organoleptic properties of food. Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 adds GMP requirements for controlled manufacturing processes. In Germany, LFGB is part of the legal framework used for control of food-contact materials and articles.
