Description

The Vulkan LR 40 is a single-stage in-line fin pressure regulator for high-pressure, high-flow technical gas pipeline systems where both elevated outlet pressure and high throughput must be maintained simultaneously. With up to 280 Nm³/h at 40 bar from 100 bar inlet, the LR 40 is designed for large-scale industrial gas distribution headers, high-speed laser assist gas networks, central process gas supply lines and other installations where the L 40 compact regulator flow capacity is insufficient.

The fin body design significantly increases the heat exchange surface area compared to a standard compact regulator, allowing the LR 40 to sustain high continuous flow rates without the pressure drop and frosting effects that occur when compact regulators approach their thermal limits. The rubber diaphragm with VA stainless steel execution for oxygen service provides the material compatibility required across the full gas range.

The 15–40 bar adjustable outlet pressure range covers the working requirements of process gas lines, laser assist gas circuits, high-pressure distribution headers and specialty industrial systems where a controlled elevated outlet pressure is specified. The G 3/4 RH connections and polyamide/NBR seals are the standard construction. Safety gauges are to ISO 5171. The leakage rate of 1 × 10⁻⁶ mbar l/s confirms helium-leak-proof assembly.

The LR 40 is the higher-pressure counterpart to the LR 20 in the Vulkan fin regulator range. For installations requiring 60 bar outlet pressure at the same high-flow fin regulator performance level, the LR 60 provides the natural extension within the same product family.

Key Advantages

  • Up to 280 Nm³/h at 40 bar for large-scale industrial gas distribution and process gas headers.
  • Fin design improves thermal performance for sustained high continuous flow operation.
  • 15–40 bar adjustable outlet covers process gas, laser assist gas and high-pressure distribution duties.
  • 100 bar inlet for pipeline stages downstream of elevated-pressure supply systems.
  • Rubber diaphragm with VA stainless steel execution for oxygen service.
  • Safety gauges according to ISO 5171; helium-leak-proof with 1 × 10⁻⁶ mbar l/s.
  • Natural step-up to LR 60 for the same fin regulator performance at 60 bar outlet.

Food-Gas / Compliance Positioning

This regulator can be positioned for food-gas projects when ordered with the appropriate wetted materials, elastomers, cleanliness level and documentation package. Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 defines the basic requirement that materials in contact with food must not transfer substances in quantities that could endanger health or unacceptably change the composition or organoleptic properties of food. Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 adds GMP requirements for controlled manufacturing processes. In Germany, LFGB is part of the legal framework used for control of food-contact materials and articles.
